Michael served his community for several years as Chairman of the Wayland School Committee, a position he devoted countless hours to, having run his campaign as the “Prepared Candidate.” Michael served his faith as a founder and president of Temple Beth Am in Framingham, and later as a trustee of Congregation Shirat HaYam in Nantucket. Michael was very proud of his service and credited his time in the Navy for one of his most enduring life skills: grace under pressure. on the destroyer USS McGowan (DD678) during combat in the Korean War, receiving four separate medals during his three years of service. Michael bravely served as Lieutenant J.G. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The College of William and Mary in 1951 and immediately joined the United States Navy, enrolling in Officers Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. Michael grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts and graduated from Worcester Academy. He was married for 67 wonderful years to Joyce (nee Sasson) and their partnership was a beautiful model of devotion, growth, learning, acceptance and love. Michael’s long and rich life was filled with service: to his country in war, to his community, to his faith, and to his family. He was the only child of William and Eunice Isenberg Levy. A long-time resident of Wayland, Michael was born in Boston on January 2, 1930. Provide comfort for the family by planting a tree in memory of Philip R.Michael Ralph Levy, 93, of Newton, passed away on Friday, October 20, surrounded by family. He touched the lives of countless BPS students who remember him fondly. Of the many accomplishments in his career as a Boston Public Schools teacher and administrator, Philip developed the 'RECAP Program' which set returning high school 'drop-outs' back on the path to graduation. He later received a Master in Business Administration degree from Suffolk University. Philip received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Worcester State College and a Master of Education degree from Boston State College. His experiences at 'Camp Hale' inspired a lifelong dedication to the organization that culminated in the prestigious Gigi Pieri lifetime service award. In 2011, he was a leader in the effort to integrate girls into the 100+ year-old program. Dedicated to giving the same experience to other Boston youth, he spent many summers as an employee and volunteer there. As a child growing up in Boston's 'South End', he attended the United South End Settlements' summer program on Squam Lake, New Hampshire.

Philip also leaves behind five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Loving brother to Nicholas Dushku and his wife Donna of Providence, Utah Victor Dushku of Sweden, Charles Dushku of Boston and predeceased by his sister Gloria Dushku of Brighton, MA. Proud father of Aaron and his wife Arlenin (Perez) Dushku, Benjamin Dushku, Nathaniel Dushku and his husband Amnon (Ami) Lourie, and Eliza Dushku and her fiance Peter Palandjian. Philip was born in Boston on Jto George V. Dushku of Dedham, beloved husband of Deborah Grace (Boyd), died June 16, 2018, after a long illness.
